Classic 1930/40’s Allied Military Transport / Airliner
The Douglas C-47 Skytrain or Dakota (RAF designation) is a military transport aircraft developed from the civilian Douglas DC-3 airliner. It was used extensively by the Allies during World War II as both a cargo and parachute aircraft. Made most famous for its contribution to the D Day landings and Arnhem.
This is a hugely expensive, all metal, build of the complete cabin area. In addition it has stubby wings attached that can be seen from the numerous side windows. The detail and quality is quite something. Although it will floor sit it was actually designed to go up on a gimbal, the mount of which we still have. We could easily remove the parachute seating and change the interior into a cargo config. Really amazing.
